Why We Exist
There is a segment of the hotel industry that has been overlooked by AV providers for too long. Midscale to boutique luxury properties with active event programs are sitting on significant AV revenue potential that is not being realized. It seems nobody has ever shown these properties what's possible with an optimized AV program.
The opportunity is always there. What's missing is the training and mentorship needed to unlock it.
Lumivox exists to close that gap.
The Pattern That Wouldn't Go Away
Ken Carmichael has spent the better part of 30 years working in and around exactly these properties. Many smaller full-service hotels and boutique luxury properties with serious event potential have underperforming AV programs.
In every single one of them, he found the same thing. Missed revenue. No AV sales training. Consumer grade and unreliable equipment. Staff not trained to troubleshoot problems. These are service levels that don't reflect the standards of the property.
Many vendors treat smaller properties like an afterthought, and owners trying to self-operate rarely have the resources to do it well. The frustrating part was never finding the problems. It was how fixable they always were.
Every property Ken has worked with has seen dramatic improvement in revenue, in service scores, and in the guest experience. Not because the problems were complicated, but because nobody had a mentor to show them the way.
The frustrating part was never finding the problems. It was how fixable they always were.
Ken started as a part-time technician in 1997. He has experienced every side of this industry, working for AV companies large and small and for hotels as a self-operating director. He worked in product development and consulting roles that helped write the standards the hotel AV industry still follows today.
That experience shapes everything Lumivox does. When a major AV company sends someone to evaluate your program, that person answers to the AV company. Their job is to protect the contract and move on. The hotel's interests are secondary at best.
Lumivox answers to one party. The hotel. That independence isn't a talking point. It's the entire foundation of how we work.
